The Junior Committee Blueprint: Establishing a Local Network for Emerging Dance Professionals

  • Lecture

Since our founding in 2007, Dance/NYC’s Junior Committee has served as a liaison for New York’s emerging dance professionals.  The original committee meet quarterly and functioned strictly as an advisory committee for Dance/NYC.  Now in our fifth year, the committee meets monthly, has an elected board, and actively engage with our community through independent projects.  We have continued to evolve over the past five years and have established a model that allows us to efficiently strengthen, unite and re-energize our peer group in a challenging field.

This presentation will share our blueprint for the Junior Committee and what we have learned along the way.  Our programming, including our townhalls and the ’21-35 Workforce Census’, allows us to foster professional development in our constituency and provide a forum for dialogue among diverse perspectives in our field.  We invite emerging leaders across the country to join us in strengthening and uniting the dance community by forming committees in their area.
